Christmas tree disposal, cardboard recycling, collection days and Transfer Station holiday hours
Public Works reminders for upcoming holiday weeks.
Public Works reminders for Christmas and New Year's:
- The Garbage Company is closed on Christmas Day & New Year’s Day - weekly collections will run one day behind during those weeks.
- The Transfer Station will close at 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays, Dec. 23 and 30.
- Christmas Tree Disposal: The Department of Public Works provides a site for disposal of real Christmas trees; please remove all decorations/lights. The location is open Dec. 26 through mid-January on South Main Ave. (south of 3rd Street) on the east side of the road; please watch for the sign.
- Remember to recycle all your Christmas cardboard. Clean cardboard is accepted in the city’s residential, curbside recycling program. Please break down cardboard boxes and shipping boxes so they are flat and no bigger than 2 by 2 feet and place under the recycle tote for pickup on the regularly scheduled day. Other accepted recyclables include aluminum/tin, paper, and plastics 1-7.
