Summer Reading Program kickoff May 31
2025 theme is "Color Our World"
Crete Public Library's Summer Reading Program 2025, "Color Our World," will start with the Carnival Kickoff on Saturday, May 31 from 12 -2 p.m. Enjoy free hot dogs, popcorn, and cotton candy while you explore a fun-filled afternoon of carnival games, face painting, balloon artists, and exciting prizes. Bring the whole family for a fantastic start to summer.

June Calendar of events includes:
- Story times at 10 a.m.: Ages 0-2 on Wednesdays and Ages 3-5 on Thursdays
- Teen Programs on Tuesdays at 4pm
- Lego Build Day on June 3
- Henne Temporary Tattoos on June 10
- Trivia on June 17
- Cookie Decorating Class on June 24
- All Ages Programs on Saturdays:
- Carnival Kickoff on May 31 from 12-2pm
- Origami Workshop on June 7 from 2-3pm
- Jeff Quinn: Colorful Magic Show on June 14 from 2-3pm
- Movie at the Isis Theatre (139 West 13th Street) on June 21 from 10-12pm
Summer Reading participants age 7 and under need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian during Summer Reading activities. The Library encourages parents and guardians to arrange safe escort to and from programs. Library staff is not responsible for children before and after programs.

Readers can participate in Crete Public Library's summer reading program, typically announced in April/May with a kickoff event to follow.
Youth activities in June and July may include games and activities, art projects, story times, guest entertainment and authors, reading challenges, and more. All activities and programs are open to children free of charge, but registration is required. Forms and calendars are made available at the library and online when programs are announced. Additional activities and reading challenges may be offered for adult patrons.
