Libby Reading App
The Libby app, by Overdrive, can be used to borrow ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines to read across devices or they can be downloaded for offline reading. Books can also be sent to a Kindle device. After the app is downloaded on a device, patrons connect using their Crete Public Library account.

Hold and Redelivery with Libby: Libby notifications will alert users when their holds become available to: 1) borrow the title within three (3) days; suspend the hold by selecting “deliver later," and maintain the place on the waitlist; 3) cancel the hold. If the user takes no action, their hold will automatically be suspended as a one-time courtesy for seven (7) days. If no action is taken a second time, the hold will be canceled automatically.
OverDrive
Crete Public Library provides patrons access to online, downloadable audiobooks and ebooks through OverDrive, offered through the Nebraska Library Commission. Patrons will need a library card in good standing to access OverDrive titles through the library's online catalog or the OverDrive app. (Note: The OverDrive app will no longer be available for download after Feb. 23, 2022.)
Crete Public Library also participates in the OverDrive Advantage program, where Crete patrons can access eBooks and eAudiobooks that are only available to Crete Library patrons. Popular titles and those with a long waitlist for Crete patrons have been purchased as part of the Advantage program. This means patrons do not have to wait as long for their title to get off the reserve list.

OverDrive Resources
Log in to the catalog with your library card number and your phone number (don’t include area code, unless it is not 402, and omit the dash between the numbers.) Titles available from OverDrive will have a location of 'Internet' and a label of OverDrive. Nebraska Overdrive also has the Overdrive app.
- Patrons may borrow a total of six items at one time.
- AudioBooks check out for 7 or 14 days.
- eBooks check out for 7, 14 or 21 days.
After locating a title, click on the book cover for more information, including the duration and format and devices that will play it. The title can be added to the cart for checkout, placed on hold, or added to the wish list. OverDrive books are not included in a patron's circulation records on the library’s Apollo online catalog.
Booklist Reader
The Booklist Reader publication offers freely accessible book and awards lists, author/illustrator interviews, resources, and news from Booklist and the American Library Association. Read the latest Booklist Reader issue online.
Patrons can also read Booklist Publications on a phone or tablet by downloading the ALA Booklist free app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
