Nuisance property violations

General Nuisances: A general nuisance is anything on your property that could impact the safety of others, interferes with the use of your own property, or interferes with your neighbors being able to enjoy their own property. A general nuisance is also anything that would impact the value of the homes in your neighborhood.

Furniture and Household Items: The following items are things you must store inside your home or another enclosed space on your property:

  • Furniture includes anything that would be used as a seat (including dining chairs, couches, benches, etc.), table, storage container, or platform/shelf inside your home. Standard outdoor furniture is permitted.
  • Household items include fitness equipment, cooking tools, televisions, electronic devices, bicycles, toys, and appliances (a/c unit, refrigerator, washer/dryer, microwave, stove, etc.)
  • It is also a nuisance to leave items at the curb with a sign listing a price or “free.”

Worthless Vegetation: You must maintain your lawn and cut weeds, grasses, and other worthless vegetation that is taller than 12 inches.

Junk and Vehicle Parts: Junk and vehicle parts must be thrown away or stored in an enclosed space like a garage. Items in these categories include the following:

  • Junk includes old or scrap metal, rubber or plastic, any machine, appliance, furniture, or vehicle that are inoperable or deteriorated/dismantled.
  • Vehicle parts include tires and any other part of a vehicle that is not attached to a working vehicle.

Dead/Diseased Trees and Low Hanging Branches: If a tree on your property is dead or diseased, you must have the tree removed from your property. If you have branches that lean over the sidewalk or street that impact a pedestrian or vehicles ability to pass by the property, you must trim that branch.

Sprinkling Systems: Sprinklers which spray beyond your grass and landscaping is a nuisance. Make sure the spray does not go into the street, sidewalk, and alleys unnecessarily.
